The Viking and the Runaway Empress is out now

My latest book, The Viking and the Runaway Empress, is out now. Whoop! This one was a little different for me, as it’s set in a new location – or a few new locations: Saxony, the Alps and Rome.

In Viking times, it was often the case that babies who weren’t born ‘perfect’ would be put out to die. It’s such an atrocious thought, that a child might have been abandoned if it was thought they wouldn’t be able to help the settlement, or that they might bring shame upon the family, it sparked the idea for the hero in my story…

Destin was born paralysed on his upper left side and was abandoned as a child. However, he was saved by a wanderer and raised to fight. His prospects had always been limited so he made his way to Constantinople and joined the Byzantine Emperor’s Varangian Guard.

Now he has been tasked with fetching the sovereign’s runaway bride from Saxony and delivering her to Constantinople for the wedding. The only thing is, Princess Livia doesn’t want to get married! And when the two meet, sparks fly.

Destin has pledged an oath of fealty and must do his duty and return her, pure and unharmed, to receive his reward. But the closer they become on their journey, the harder it is for him to hand her over… What will win out, his duty or desire?

I hope you enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. I fell in love with my hero, Destin – but I’m happy to share him with you.

I dedicated this book to my friends Zoe and Phil and Jackie and Mark – and here’s a pic of Jackie and Mark reading it in bed!
